Because of their fast and easy use, rollers are the most popular paint applicator... chosen 95% of the time. To determine the quality of a roller cover, look at the core. Cardboard cores are not very durable because they absorb the paint, get soft and often lose their roundness. Also, cardboard and many other types of roller covers use glue to hold the fabric to the core. The problem here is that the solvents in paint can cause the glue to dissolve, making the roller useless. Do it Best roller covers are made with a "user friendly" plastic core that's impervious to water and paint solvents. Plus, the fabric is attached to Do it Best roller covers using a flame bonding process called ULTRABOND. This ULTRABOND seal is not affected by water or solvents making Do it Best roller covers the most durable in the marketplace today.

The basic rule in selecting a roller is the rougher the surface, the longer the nap length. The smoother the surface, the shorter the nap length. For example, on concrete block, you should recommend a roller cover with a ¾ inch to 1 inch nap. A 3/8 inch nap roller cover is probably the most versatile for applying paints of various sheen levels on most interior wall surfaces. If you're using enamel on a smooth surface, you should use a roller cover with a 1/4 inch nap.
