The CBSQ uses Simpson Strong-Tie Strong-Drive screws (SDS), which allow for fast installation, reduced reveal and high capacity, provides a greater net section area of the column compared to bolts. Install Simpson Strong-Tie SDS 1/4" x 2" wood screws, which are provided with the column base. (Lag screws do not achieve the same load.) Base plate provides 1" standoff clearance required by code. Post bases do not provide adequate resistance to prevent members from rotating about the base and are not recommended for non top-supported installations (such as fences or unbraced carports). Galvanized finish. 12-gauge base with 10-gauge strap. Use all specified fasteners.
