Stock & Yard Associate

Farm and Home Hardware is looking for Stock and Yard people to join our existing top-notch team. Established in 1960, we have over 60 years of experience helping our friends and neighbors complete their projects. If you enjoy collaborating closely with a team of dedicated people who offer high end service, then we are a perfect fit for you. We are looking for initiative-takers who would like to grow with a local, family-owned company.

We have built the business by offering service, convenience, and fair pricing to our customers. I would say we are more than a traditional Hardware Store. Over the years we have partnered with key national brands to help offer the best products possible to our communities. One thing that will be evident early on is that we are always looking for a better way to do things, a better product or service to offer to add value to our customer experience. Please feel free to stop in and check us out and then you will see for yourself that we offer something for everyone.

Our Stock and Yard people are an integral part of our customer service team. We are looking for dedicated, driven individuals interested in part time or full-time hours. Shifts vary and while we would like to have open availability, we also understand that many qualified candidates have restrictions that limit the availability. With that we are willing to discuss this opportunity and see if it will work for both Farm and Home and you in your current situation. We have a variety of tasks that are completed by our High School, College, and Adults looking for a full-time career.

High School stock positions:

You must be 16 years of age with decent availability. We take pride in helping High School students enter the job market and learn marketable skills that will help them throughout their life.

These are a few examples of life lessons you will practice:

  • Learn to take pride in your work…you will see that your attitude and job performance directly reflects positively or negatively on your coworkers and our company. Doing your part for the team and our customers will give you the confidence needed for life.
  • Learn the value of money… It’s worth more to you when you earn it, this will help you to start budgeting your money and setting goals…
  • Learn what you might want to do- or don’t want to do- when you grow up…Do you enjoy manual labor, would you rather sit behind a desk, are you creative, do you like to build and see instant results… Your first job will help you understand your likes and dislikes, which makes deciding on a career path much easier.
  • Everyone should work RETAIL once in their life… You will learn to appreciate people at all levels of the workforce and treat them with respect... Unfortunately, if you are here long enough everyone experiences the underside of upset customers. Learning how to deal with difficult situations early in life will help to make you a more confident person.
  • Learn how to work with adults as part of a team…. Most students can interact well with their peers… Sometimes the tough part is building work relationships with adults from their community… Developing these lifelong friendships will help prepare you for the future.
  • Learn to manage your time… You will need to be dependable. Expectations will be set that you show up for work when scheduled and do not call off without good reason. Skipping out on a shift negatively affects your team and our customers, it’s not just about you.
  • Learn to communicate effectively… Life happens, you will need days off… Direct communication with your management staff will prove invaluable. Again, you will learn how to have direct conversations with our management staff, which will build confidence.
  • Learn about maintenance basics that will help you as a future homeowner… We will pay you while you learn the difference between a bolt and screw, the pieces needed to fix a kitchen sink, the difference between the sizes and varieties of lumber, plus many more… Again, life lessons that will help prepare you for the future.

College stock positions:

We offer flexible full and part time positions for college students and take pride in helping these students through life while they are attending post grad education. We also offer some business internships to work with your school in preparing you for the career path you have selected. While with us, you will gain confidence in yourself and learn life lessons that will stick with you for years. Most of the previous High School lessons will apply here as well as some additional tasks due to your age and maturity.

  • Learn how to operate store equipment…. Tow motors, tractors, lawn mowers, pallet jacks
  • Delivering products to our customers’ homes…
