About Us

For the past 90 years, the Grabill, and more recently, the Woodburn hardwares have been serving their local communities by providing goods and services in a convenient and personal level unmatched by any big box retailer.

The Past

In 1930, seeing the need for hardware products and services in the Grabill and surrounding areas; Abner & Dan Gerig started Grabill Hardware at the corner of State & Main Streets’ in Grabill.  Grabill Hardware joined Do It Best Corporation (at that time, HWI) in 1950.

On November 22nd of 1976, a fire completely destroyed the store.

With the help and support of the community, the debris was cleaned up and the store rebuilt and reopened in 1977. 

In 2010, seeing the need for continued services in Woodburn, IN, we joined with a second store.  Now in its third generation of family ownership, Grabill & Woodburn Hardware continue to serve these and the surrounding communities.

The Present

The Grabill & Woodburn Hardware provide tools, builder hardware, electrical supplies, plumbing & heating supplies, lawn & garden supplies, sporting goods, housewares, and paint & sundries that would fill an entire page if listed individually. We also carry a strong line of bolts, nuts, screws, and other hardware provided by Hillman.

Since we are also located in a large old order Amish community, we carry many unique, hard-to-find items such as oil lamp supplies, Lodge cast iron cookware, Harvest Right freeze dryers, pressure canner seals & parts, Chop Rite meat grinders & parts, crocks, tablecover, Coleman & railroad lantern parts, manilla rope, and wood clothes drying racks.

Need just a foot or two of pvc, cpvc or pex pipe, chain, rope, electrical or galvanized wire, screen, poultry netting (chicken wire), cable and more? We can do that.

We also carry many name brand products from companies like Channellock, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Irwin, Diablo, Freud, Jonathan Green, Scotts, Miracle-Gro, Ortho, Roundup, Tomcat, Fertilome, Hi-Yield, Bonide, Scenic Road, Rust-Oleum, Zinsser, Ball, Presto, All American, Mirro, Gorilla Glue & Gorilla Tape, Philips, Satco, and more.
