Gilberts Hardware and Appliance have been serving Shiawassee County since 1965. Beginning as a Western Auto Associate Store, business grew from one to three storefronts. Chuck and Mary Ann Gilbert welcomed their sons K.C. and Bill into the business in 1976. Shifting their focus to hardware the company in 1979 joined True Value Hardware. In 1980 Major Appliances were added to their TV and Stereo Department. In 1987 the Gilbert Family acquired the adjacent buildings and expanded two additional storefronts.
