Our Story

B&B Hardware EST 1963

1858-Building was constructed as the Davis Hotel, Camden Mills (Milan), IL.

1882-Building became C.H. Dibbern & Son Hardware.

1941-Hardware store was purchased by Israel (Is) Post (Great, Great Uncle to R.J. McDaniel) Store name was Post Hardware.

1951-Store name was changed to B&B Hardware when owners were transferred to non-family member (Harold Brown).

1955-Store joined the True Value co-op.

1963-Store changed owners back to current family ownership. Edna Post & John McDaniel (R.J.'s Great Aunt and Grandfather) assumed ownership but decided to keep B&B Hardware as the name. 

1967- B&B Hardware became a corporation.

1968-A new building was built onto the old building/frame (same location:334 W 2nd Ave Milan, IL.). Store never closed during the construction. 

2000-B&B joined the co-op Do It Best from direction of owners; Marylyn McDaniel & Reed McDaniel (Grandmother and Father to R.J.)

2007-Store was relocated to a bigger location in Milan with great parking. Owned & operated by Reed McDaniel & R.J. McDaniel Jr.

2019-Owned & operated: R.J. McDaniel Jr. (4th Gen owner)
