Elliott’s Famous Grass Seed

 

Elliott’s Famous Grass Seed was originally developed and formulated by Mr. Baker Elliott back in the 60’s using his many years of experience working on his family farm and his vast knowledge of commercial formulas that were available at that time. Baker would order the seeds, then weigh and hand mix his formula to BLE’s specifications.

Little did Baker know at the time that he had come up with an extremely hearty, long lived perennial mix of seed that would become a long-time staple in Northern NY and requested by many around the North Country. Customers come from all over the north country and all are so emphatic with its success that Baker has had customers tell him that “this stuff will grow grass on cement!!” (Disclaimer. We have no actual knowledge if Bakers Famous Grass Seed will grow on cement… fun to say though!)

This long-time process was handed down from Baker to his daughter Cindy who has worked at the store since 1986. She has now been gracious enough to pass it down to the team at ABCD. We at ABCD Hardware & Supply are very proud and extremely happy to carry on Mr. Elliott’s legacy of Famous Grass Seed and we hope he’s got a big ol’ smile on his face every time someone grabs some for their property! Elliott’s Famous Deer Plot Mix was originally developed many years ago by Baker Elliott for use on his deer plots. The mixture was so successful for Baker personally that he decided he would order the seed, weigh and hand mix it, then offer it to his customers for use on their deer plots across the north country. It has become a mainstay for many hunting landowners. BLE even tested this seed mix in the Adirondack Mountains at Weller Mountain with raving reviews.

This mixture provides a high source of protein forage for wildlife that really seems to be fan favorite with north country deer. With the proper soil preparation, PH tests, lime applied along with fertilizer, your hunting plot will thrive like never before!
