Where It All Began

Opened in 1976 by Wilbur and Louise Fullaway, Calaveras Lumber began in the north end of Angels Camp as a lumberyard built around quality lumber and strong relationships. With the help of their son Mike and his wife Diane, as well as many dedicated employees, the company continued to evolve and expand.

Calaveras Lumber Company moved to the current location at 155 South Main Street in 2000. With lots of work and many yards of concrete, the location became a full-service lumberyard and retail hardware store meeting the needs of homebuilders, remodelers, and do-it-yourself-ers.

Where We Are Now

Our fleet of trucks delivers lumber and building materials across California and parts of Nevada, while the retail store features hardware, tools, building materials, electrical, plumbing, housewares, Benjamin Moore paint, gifts and home décor, nursery, patio furniture and BBQs...and a Christmas store that is LEGENDARY!

Over the years, Calaveras Lumber has focused on carrying reliable, high quality brands as well as the best lumber that we can find on the market. Combining those concepts with knowledgeable, caring and dedicated employees has helped us grow and serve the community for over 45 years. Combined with our sister store, Sonora Lumber, we proudly employee 100 locals committed to serving our customers and community. We look forward to serving you!

In 1898 Sonora Lumber was first founded as Hales and Symons. It started as a freight company and feed store, which then expanded into mining supplies, fuel, ice and eventually lumber. Over the coarse of 100 plus years it then became a hardware store and lumber yard. In 2014 Sonora Lumber was created after JS West Hardware was purchased by Mike and Diane Fullaway, the owners of Calaveras Lumber est. in 1976.
