Blowers and Vacuums for a Tidy Lawn

When leaves begin to fall, hand held leaf blowers and vacuums make yard cleanup much easier. There are multiple factors to consider when shopping for a hand blower. The weight, power supply, and noise level of a handheld blower vacuum, as well as the size of the yard, are all important. Some blowers come with an added vacuum feature that is useful as well.

  • Gas blowers are the most powerful but tend to be much louder. They can also sometimes be heavy to carry as a hand held model because of the fuel required. Some of the largest gas blowers are push models that help with portability. Gas blowers can be two-cycle, running on gasoline and oil, or four-cycle, running only on gas.

  • Electric blowers are lighter-weight and usually less noisy. An electric blower can be corded or cordless. A corded model may be the lighter of the two but is limited to the area where the cord or an extension cord can reach. A cordless model runs on rechargeable batteries. A backup battery is recommended to ensure completion of a larger job without waiting for a recharge.
