Clarks Lumber has a long and rich history in the Herington community. First opened as Clarks Lumber Company on September 16, 1925, it housed 600,000 feet of lumber. In 1966, Verlon Mueller purchased Clark Lumber Company and helped expand the lumberyard to offer a variety of services to the community.

Ray Mueller became manager in 1980 and helped establish a new store addition in 1995, as well as an attached warehouse which was built in 2006. Both expansions create more opportunities for Clarks to serve the surrounding areas. Clarks offers custom paint colors, glass cutting, free estimates and quotes, as well as key cutting and duplication.

Jason and Stephania Martin purchased the lumberyard in 2023, and operate the business as Clarks Lumber LLC. They moved to Herington to raise their four children and are committed to serve the community with respect and the quality service it deserves. 

As Verlon Mueller stated in the Herington Times in 1966: “Come in and see us. You are always welcomed.”
