About Jenson Lumber

Jenson Lumber Storefront

In 1978, with a leap of faith, sheer determination, and a dream of building a thriving business for his growing family, LaMoine Jenson opened Jenson Lumber Services by scraping up enough money to buy some wholesale lumber, a used forklift, and a delivery truck.  Drawing on his years of experience in the lumber business and with the help of a business partner and his sons after school, he started selling lumber and delivering it from his backyard in Draper, Utah -- at the time, a small rural farming town.

With fair prices and fast, dependable service, he quickly outgrew his backyard.  He leased some nearby property, graveled the dirt, built a shed, and parked a trailer for an office. With more room, he was able to stock more lumber for an increasing number of loyal builders and contractors, while also providing quality building materials like doors, millwork, windows, and trusses through local vendors.  Three of LaMoine’s sons now partnered with him in the business.

In the mid 1990’s LaMoine traded his inherited plot of land for 3 acres on the busier main road of 12300 South, and they paved a lumber yard and started construction on a store.  Joining Hardware Wholesalers, Inc. (a full line co-op which later became Do it Best Corp) in 1997 enabled them to supply the store with all the hardlines builders need, along with filling a need in the community for a regular hardware store.

Today we have a bustling yard with 5 forklifts and 8 delivery trucks to meet the short lead times builders have come to expect.  20 employees work tirelessly to bring the best lumber, building materials, tools, and hardware to our community -- with fair prices, and dependable service.

LaMoine Jenson passed away in 2014 – but his legacy lives on through his sons who carry on the business -- passionate to the standards he instilled.

Fast. Fair. Dependable. Service you can trust since 1978.
