Valu presents Habitat for Humanity with a check for $108,300

On Monday, July 31st we presented Habitat for Humanity with a check for $108,300!

This amount brings our 25-year fundraising total to over $3.7 million. The presentation was broadcast live with Courtney Corbetta on 7 Eyewitness News Buffalo WKBW-TV during their AM Buffalo segment and was followed by our drawing for the grand prize winner of a 2017 Ford Focus.

The lucky grand prize-winning ticket belonged to Greg Skora of Hamburg, NY!

Ron Talboys of Habitat for Humanity Buffalo accepted the donation on behalf of the 15 Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the communities that Valu Home Centers serves.

All of the donations raised stay in the neighborhoods where they were collected, so all donors give where they live. We are proud to cover all of the administrative costs for this fundraising campaign and sweepstakes, so 100% of the proceeds go to families in need of affordable housing.

Representatives from the Habitat for Humanity affiliates were present to accept their individual checks, comprised of donations from their local Valu stores.

Their enthusiasm and earnest interest in Habitat for Humanity’s mission help inspire others to get involved in both donating and volunteering in support of Habitat’s efforts. This year, members of our Store Operations Team went out in the community to 'give a hand up' by volunteering with their local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. We are so inspired by their commitment!

It's a celebration through service! To celebrate the 25 year partnership between Valu and Habitat for Humanity, members of the Valu Home Centers team have been working on Habitat's landmark 300th house in Buffalo, NY.
