Stihl/Small Engine Specialist
Objectives:
To be an important part of the team by providing excellent service to all customers. To serve as the store’s Stihl power tool specialist with the ability to sell and service Stihl power equipment as well as other small engine repairs.
To efficiently assist customers in identifying needs and finding products to bring resolution to those needs. To successfully be cross-trained to run the Point-of-Sale system. Must be friendly, detail oriented, able to work effectively under pressure and be a team player.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose problems and determine what repairs are needed on STIHL power equipment.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble components and machines.
- Perform all service tasks
- Quickly acquire “Stihl Silver” certification
- Handle and fulfill all online Stihl orders that come to the stores.
- Prepare all forms (detail of work performed on repair orders)
- Report any additional work required on equipment to customers, for proper and safe operation.
- Participate in all training programs.
- Maintain a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Bring to the attention of the Store Manager any shop tools or equipment that is not in a serviceable condition or is unsafe to use.
- Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise (as arranged by management). Maintain your assigned department: Keep clean, organized and fully stocked.
- Greet customers as they enter the store
- Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on customer needs
- Describe merchandise application, best practices for use and answer questions from customer
- Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions and specials
- Identify selling opportunities with customers, including special orders
- Help maintain store cleanliness and presentation
- Identify prices of products and services using the Point-of-Sale system
- Effectively run the Point-of-Sale system for purchasing, returns and exchanges
- With proper training, fill propane tanks, cut keys, mix paint, sell and build grills
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined and have experience in small engine repair and equipment maintenance preferably with STIHL power equipment.
- The preferred candidate will have verifiable small engine repair experience and the ability to show consumers how to properly use a wide variety of STIHL power equipment.
- Quickly acquire “Stihl Silver” certification
- Detail oriented
- Friendly and respectful personality
- Must be able to continuously stand or walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift, handle, carry material up to 60 pounds
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent cash handling skills
- Possess basic computer skills.
