Our Story

Joe Fichter & Jill Breslin had a vision. They wanted to buy a small, friendly hardware store in a bucolic setting. They found Cole's Hardware in Buchanan and on March 2, 1981 the Buchanan Home Center was born. From a small store, and a lot of work, the attached garage & gas station were replaced by a new expansion. Over the years continuous renovations, improvements and modernizations have resulted in what we are today.

The Buchanan Home Center is a thriving, all inclusive hardware mega-store where everything can be found: paint, plumbing, electrical, keys, a full line of grills, garden and contractor tools. We carry the smallest items you absolutely must have but cannot find anywhere else. Problems? Ask any of our 15 local employees who are happy to help you out. Best of all, consult with Julian Breslin, our very knowledgable general manager since 2013 after starting his career here in 2000.

A lot has changed, grown and improved. But in 36 years, one thing has remained constant: friendliness with the desire to satisfy you, our customer.
