In 1962, Carl Gillman and his brother Leo (Dick) founded Gillman Brother’s Lumber to service the community of Brookville and his own construction company. That small lumber yard ignited an interest in retail and building materials in one of Carl’s 10 children – Charlie. Charlie continued to work in custom home building for many years before deciding to focus solely on retail and serving other contractors. Carl passed in 2015 and his passion for excellence in retailing and serving the community lives on with his son and grandsons.
Located in Batesville, Indiana, Gillman Home Centers is a full-service hardware and lumber dealer with sixteen locations in Batesville, Brookville, Connersville, Oxford (Ohio), Eaton (Ohio), Edinburgh, Centerville, Winchester, New Castle, Aurora, Frankfort, Lebanon, Gas City, Hartford City, Muncie, and Shelbyville. Gillman’s was founded in 1980 by Charlie Gillman, a second-generation home*builder who still runs the company today with his sons and 400 other team members.
