Keeping Your New Floor Looking Immaculate!

Here at Gillman Home Center, we want to share with you some secrets an/or tips to cleaning your new floors. Let’s touch on some of the most popular flooring finishes first. From laminate to hardwood flooring, it all needs cleaned. We walk on it every day and track in dirt from the outside. Laminate flooring needs special care when it comes to keeping it clean. Dry mopping or vacuuming the floor is the best way to keep moisture from getting underneath the floorboards. You can always Spot clean with a damp mop when needed.

Hardwood flooring, bamboo, or natural stone can be a different process to clean depending on whether it is a wax or polyurethane finish. One of the ways to keep these types of floors nice is to seal them, by purchasing the right kind of flooring sealant. The sealant can help protect it from water damage and stains. Using a general natural cleaner and a microfiber damp mop and be sure to clean up any excess water that may have spilled at any time. Be super careful with wax hardwood flooring, as water can damage the finish. Use a dry mop, sweep, or vacuum regularly to keep that shine.

Cleaning a vinyl, porcelain, linoleum, or cork floor is really pretty easy, just use a spray bottle to spray ¼ cup vinegar and 1 drop of dish soap mixed with warm water and mop. You can also use a steam cleaner on these kinds of floors: vinyl, porcelain, or natural stone flooring. The steam gets into the grout, can get rid of bacteria and helps get a much deeper clean.
