Intermediate metal conduit. A lighter-weight alternative to rigid metal conduit, weighing approximately 33% less than rigid metal conduit (RMC). Like rigid conduit, it shields against EMI, offers reduced exposure to EMF, and provides an excellent electrical path to the ground, which is recognized as an equipment grounding conductor by the National Electrical Code (NEC). Certification: UL-1242,ANSI C80.6,NEC ARTICLE 342, NFPA70: NEC 250.118 (3).
