An Idea is Born

In 1954, three brothers, Alvin, Arthur and Clifford Meyer, formed a partnership called Meyer Lumber Company.  Art became the manager of the new Meyer Lumber Company, selling carloads of lumber wholesale on the tracks and boards from the yard retail.  Through the early '60s buildings were added to the perimeter of the yard.

Second Generation

In 1965, Art's son, Bruce, started full-time as a yardman.  Karen Sebold, now Karen Meyer, Bruce's wife, started in 1965 as a bookkeeper.  In 1974, Duane Meyer, Art's younger son, started full-time.  Dale Meyer, Alvin's third son, started as a draftsman in 1978.  Under management of the second generation, Meyer Lumber Company became Meyer Lumber Supply, Inc. in 1981.  In October of 1987, Duane and Dale Meyer purchased Meyer Lumber Supply, Inc.

New Location

With business growing into a complete building center, Duane and Dale saw an opportunity to grow their business and move to a new location visible from Highway 13.  In 2008, they broke ground for a new 18,640 sq ft. retail hardware store to include a bigger window and door display area, as well as a flooring department.  Now found at 241 Meyer Drive, Dorchester, WI
