About Us

Stillwater Building Center was started by Jim Watson and Barnett Scarborough, with the goal of delivering the finest quality building products and the greatest level of service available in our industry.  Since its inception in 1999, Stillwater Building Center has grown to over 40 employees serving contractors and the public throughout North Central Oklahoma.

The original store, our home for almost 10 years, was a former boat repair shop located halfway between Perkins and Stillwater on Hwy 177 (Perkins Road.)  

During that time, we grew rapidly, adding an Installed Sales department, and a Commercial Sales department.  We also expanded by adding a Hardware Store location in downtown Stillwater.

By 2008, we had outgrown our store, and the decision was made to build our current location, combining both stores into a single 24,000 square foot retail store and showroom on 6 acres at 44th & Perkins Rd.

 

 

Our new building has allowed us to continue growing, adding new products, services, and additional staff.

By 2013, we were expanding again, adding an additional 4 acres behind our property, and building a new 12,000 square foot Door Shop to house our growing Door & Window business.

In 2020, a new chapter of our history began, with several long term employees becoming owners.  This ownership team of 6 current employees, with over 190 years of combined experience, are heavily involved in the daily operations and are all based here locally in Stillwater.
