Our Story

How Randy's Hardware came to be

Randy's Hardware first opened its doors in Timberville, Virginia in 2001. Founder Randy Andes brought more than 30 years of hardware retail experience to the venture, partnering with his wife and daughters to build something of their own. What began as a single family-owned store has since grown into a four-location operation serving the Shenandoah Valley.

The company's growth has been steady and intentional. In 2007, a nearby New Market hardware store was acquired and merged into the Timberville flagship. Bridgewater followed in 2011, accompanied by an expansion of the Timberville location that nearly doubled its inventory capacity. In 2019, an established family-owned hardware store sought a buyer, and Randy's stepped in, opening the Mount Jackson location a few months later. The following year, a commercial property group identified an unmet need for an independent hardware store in Greene County, Virginia, leading to the opening of the Ruckersville location in November 2020.

Each new location has expanded what Randy's can offer its customers. The Ruckersville store, in particular, brought new brands and services to the lineup, including an authorized Stihl dealership and service center for both Stihl and Milwaukee equipment.

At the heart of Randy's Hardware is a simple but deeply held belief: that a hardware store can be more than a place to buy products. Guided by a commitment to family, integrity, selflessness, and continuous learning, the Randy's Hardware team works every day to be a genuine resource for the communities they serve. From knowledgeable staff who take the time to solve real problems to a business model built on honest, caring service, Randy's Hardware isn't just locally owned, it's locally invested.
